Here's the one I used: Open magical book How to Make a Sparkle Brush in Photoshop Step 1 Create a New File with the following dimensions: Step 2 Fill the background with black using the Paint Bucket Tool (G). Step 3 Create a New Layer. Fill it with black again and go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Use these settings: Step 4 Go to Filter > Filter Gallery > Watercolor. This filter will turn the noise into individual spots, and this is exactly what we need! Step 5 Duplicate this layer (Control-J) and hide the original. Name the original "tiny speckles" and the copy "speckles". Step 6 Try to find three spots that seem to form a triangle together. If you can't find them, use the Lasso Tool (Q) to move the spots around and create such a formation yourself. Step 7 Then resize the layer (Control-T) to fill the whole canvas with just these three spots. Use the Crop Tool (C) once to cut the area outside of the canvas. Step 8 Change the Blend Mode of the layer to Screen. This will make the black part of the layer transparent. Step 9 Duplicate the "speckles" layer and go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Add a subtle blur. Step 10 Duplicate the "speckles" layer again and go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur. Add a strong smudge to these spots, and then lower the Opacity of this layer. Step 11 Repeat this step, this time making the smudge shorter and more opaque. Step 12 Do this one more time, this time without changing the Opacity at all. Step 13 Create a similar smudge one more time, this time using the opposite angle. Step 14 Now select all the "speckles" layers by holding Shift and pressing Control-E. Change the Blend Mode to Screen again. Step 15 Duplicate this layer, make the spots smaller by pressing Control-T, and rotate them to make them less obviously copied. Step 16 Repeat this process once or twice to create more of these small spots. Step 17 Show the "tiny speckles" layer again. If there are spots right on the edges of the canvas, cover them with black using a brush. Step 18 Right-click the layer stack and select Flatten Image. Then press Control-I to invert the colors. Step 19 Go to Edit > Define Brush Preset. Give your brush a name. Step 20 The brush is done, but we need to adjust its settings to make it work. Open the Brush Settings panel (F5) and increase the Spacing. Step 21 Go to the Shape Dynamics tab and add some Size Jitter and Angle Jitter. Step 22 In the Scattering tab, increase the Scatter and Count. Step 23 Test your brush now. Feel free to adjust the settings again to achieve the desired result. How to Install Fonts on an iPhone & iPad Posted: 15 Dec 2020 08:00 AM PST What You'll Be Creating Looking to find out how to add fonts to iPad or to add fonts to iPhone? Then you're in the right place! In this tutorial we'll go over various methods available to us to install fonts on an iPhone and how to install fonts on an iPad. Something to keep in mind before we get started is that installing fonts on your iOS device will only allow you to use fonts within apps that support custom fonts. This is not a method to change the fonts universally within the OS. It's important to note that every method for installing fonts on iPhone and iPad comes with limitations. You will only be able to use custom fonts in specific programs in various situations. Sadly, there is no simple way to install system-wide fonts like you may be used to with macOS or Windows. We'll have to wait and see if Apple ever makes this a feature in the future! Please keep in mind that this guide was made as of iOS 14, and the process may be subject to change for future updates. While Apple has now included more font options, to install fonts with iPhone and iPad you will have to use third-party applications. We'll be going over some of the other options at the end of the tutorial. What You'll Need iPhone or iPad with iOS 13 or later. iFont (a third-party app to load our fonts) Brownie Quest (or any font file you wish to use) For our method, we'll be using iFont, which is a free app that will let us not only find fonts on the web, but also install custom fonts just like we would on a desktop OS. We'll also be using the Brownie Quest font from Envato Elements. Of course, you can also use any font available to you! You'll want to make sure your font is in a place where you can access it through your iPhone or iPad. How to get fonts on your iPhone or iPad is really up to you—I would suggest using iCloud if you're not sure. Brownie Quest Before we get started with installing our font, it's a good idea to find your font area in the Settings. You'll see how to do that next. 1. How Do I Find the Font Settings on an iPhone? Step 1 Before we cover how to get different fonts on an iPhone, let's start off by opening the Settings app. The icon looks like a set of gears. Step 2 Once the settings are open, scroll down and select General. Step 3 Then select Fonts. Step 4 And then you'll be presented with this rather curious notice. So what's all this about? As the notice suggests, there is no built-in app which will install fonts to your iPhone. So how do you change the font on an iPhone? We can install and use third-party apps which will let us install fonts to our iPhone and iPad. Let's go over one app and the technique that we can use to install fonts. Keep note of this area for later so we can check our installed fonts! 2. How Do I Find the Font Settings on iPad? Step 1 Finding the font settings is a similar experience on iPad. To start off, open the Settings app. The icon looks like a set of gears. Step 2 Once you have opened Settings, scroll down to the General section. Step 3 From here, select Fonts. Step 4 At this point, you will be presented with this notice. As we mentioned earlier, there is no built-in app which will install fonts to your iPhone or iPad. We can, however, install and use third-party apps which will let us install fonts to our iPhone and iPad. Keep note of this area for later as some of the techniques we cover make use of this area once we've installed some fonts. You'll also want to keep note of this if you want to download fonts to iPad. 3. How to Install Fonts on iPhone Step 1 We'll be using Brownie Quest, a wonderful font you can find on Envato Elements. Of course, you can use any font you wish! Before you get started here, you'll also have to ensure that your font file is located somewhere where your iPhone can access the file. This can be on your cloud drive or on your phone's hard drive. Use your preferred way to store files here; you'll need to locate those font files in the coming steps. We'll be using an app called iFont. You can find iFont by going to the App Store and searching for "iFont". The page on the App Store should look something like this! Step 2 Go ahead and download and install the app to your device. The great thing about this particular app is that you can use it both to find fonts and to install existing fonts. Once you've installed the app, go ahead and open it up! You should be able to find it on your home screen, where you usually find newly installed apps. Once it's open, you will find a variety of different options and settings. There are some paid premium options, but for this tutorial, everything we need is free to access. The main page of iFont should look a little something like this! Go ahead and select the Find Fonts to Install button near the bottom to find out how to add fonts to iPhone. Step 3 From here, you can choose different sources. If you choose Google Fonts or one of the other methods, you'll also see options here that can help you download fonts on your iPhone. In our case, however, we want to install a custom font from our own files. You'll be able to use what you learn here to figure how to download fonts on iPhone later! Next, go ahead and select Open Files. Step 4 Now you'll be presented with a dialog window. Find and locate your font. How to get fonts on your iPhone is really up to your personal preference. You can use iCloud, or if you downloaded the font online, you can simply access it directly from your iPhone or iPad. In my case, I placed my fonts in a Fonts folder on my iCloud account.  Browse to find your font and then press the font file. This is how to add fonts to iPhone. Step 5 To see the installed fonts, we'll have to go back to the main page. On the bottom left, select the Installer button. Step 6 Go ahead and press Install next to the font you just selected. Step 7 You will now be presented with this page. As you can see, it includes detailed instructions on how to allow the app to access font settings and install fonts. You'll have to follow this process for each font you want to install. Go ahead and press Allow. Step 8 Once you click Allow, the profile will be downloaded, and you will be given a notice. Go ahead and press Close. Step 9 Now go to the Settings app, and you should see the option Profile Downloaded. If you do not see this option, repeat steps 6, 7, and 8. Then click Profile Downloaded. Step 10 Now you are presented with the Install Profile for the font.  Go ahead and press Install. Step 11 Once you press Install, you will have to input the passcode for your device. Enter the passcode, and then you will be given this warning that the profile is not signed. Go ahead and press Install. Step 12 Now the profile for the font is installed!  Now you can press Done to finish. Step 13 Now we can check if our configuration file was successfully installed. Go to Settings > General > Configuration Profiles. Now you know how to install fonts on iPhone. You can also check out installed fonts in the Fonts area of your general settings. Check out the first part of the article if you need some visual aid! You should now have a good understanding of how to use fonts on iPhone. 4. How to Install Fonts on iPad Step 1 As mentioned at the start, we'll be using the Brownie Quest font from Envato Elements. You are free to use any font you wish, though! Before you get started here, you'll also have to ensure that your font file is located somewhere where your iPad can access the file. This can be on your cloud drive or on your iPad's hard drive. Use your preferred way to store files here; you'll need to locate those font files in order to add fonts to iPad. We'll be using an app called iFont. How to Upload a File in PHP (With an Example) Posted: 15 Dec 2020 04:18 AM PST In this article, I'll explain the basics of file upload in PHP. Firstly, we'll go through the PHP configuration options that need to be in place for successful file uploads. Following that, we'll develop a real-world example of how to upload a file. Configure PHP Settings There are a couple of PHP configuration settings that you'll want to check beforehand for successful file uploads. In this section, we'll go through each and every option which is important in regards to PHP file upload. These options can be configured in the php.ini file. If you're not sure where to find your php.ini file, you can use the php_ini_loaded_file() to locate it. Just create a PHP file on your server with the following line, and open it from the browser. <?php echo php_ini_loaded_file(); ?> Here is an excerpt from a setup file with some useful defaults. ; Whether to allow HTTP file uploads. file_uploads = On ; Temporary directory for HTTP uploaded files. ; Will use system default if not set. ;upload_tmp_dir = ; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files. upload_max_filesize = 16M ; Maximum number of files that can be uploaded via a single request max_file_uploads = 20 ; Maximum size of POST data that PHP will accept. post_max_size = 20M max_input_time = 60 memory_limit = 128M max_execution_time = 30 The Key Settings file_uploads The value of the file_uploads directive should be set to On to allow file uploads. The default value of this directive is On. upload_max_filesize The upload_max_filesize directive allows you to configure the maximum size of the uploaded file. By default, it's set to 2M (two megabytes), and you can override this setting using the .htaccess file as well. Two megabytes isn't very much by today's standards, so you might have to increase this. If you get an error that file exceeds upload_max_filesize when you try to upload a file, you need to increase this value. If you do, be sure to also increase post_max_size (see below). upload_tmp_dir Sets a temporary directory which will be used to store uploaded files. In most cases, you don't need to worry about this setting. If you don't set it, the system default temp directory will be used. post_max_size The post_max_size directive allows you to configure the maximum size of POST data. Since files are uploaded with POST requests, this value must be greater than what you've set for the upload_max_filesize directive. For example, if your upload_max_filesize is 16M (16 megabytes), you might want to set post_max_size to 20M. max_file_uploads It allows you to set the maximum number of files that can be uploaded at a time. The default is 20, a sensible amount. max_input_time It's the maximum number of seconds a script is allowed to parse the input data. You should set it to a reasonable value if you're dealing with large file uploads. 60 (60 seconds) is a good value for most apps. memory_limit The memory_limit directive indicates the maximum amount of memory a script can consume. If you're facing issues during upload of large files, you need to make sure that the value of this directive is greater than what you've set for the post_max_size directive. The default value is 128M (128 megabytes), so unless you have a very large post_max_size and upload_max_filesize, you don't need to worry about this. max_execution_time It's the maximum number of seconds a script is allowed to run. If you're facing issues during upload of large files, you can consider increasing this value. 30 (30 seconds) should work well for most apps. Now let's build a real-world example to demonstrate file upload in PHP. Create the HTML Form Once you've configured the PHP settings, you're ready to try out the PHP file upload capabilities. Our GitHub repo has some sample code which I'm going to discuss throughout this article. So, if you want to follow along, go ahead and download it from GitHub. We're going to create two PHP files: index.php and upload.php. The index.php file holds code which is responsible for displaying the file upload form. On the other hand, the upload.php file is responsible for uploading a file to the server. Also, a file will be uploaded in the uploaded_files directory, so you need to make sure that this folder exists and is writable by the web-server user. In this section, we'll go through the key parts of the index.php file. Although it may look like a typical PHP form, there's an important difference in the value of the enctype attribute of the <form> tag. It needs to be set to multipart/form-data since the form contains the file field. The enctype attribute specifies the type of encoding which should be used when the form is submitted, and it takes one of the following three values: application/x-www-form-urlencoded: This is the default value when you don't set the value of the enctype attribute explicitly. In this case, characters are encoded before it's sent to the server. If you don't have the file field in your form, you should use this value for the enctype attribute. multipart/form-data: When you use the multipart/form-data value for the enctype attribute, it allows you to upload files using the POST method. Also, it makes sure that the characters are not encoded when the form is submitted. text/plain: This is generally not used. With this setting, the data is sent unencoded. Next, we output the file field, which allows you to select a file from your computer. <input type="file" name="uploadedFile" /> Apart from that, we've displayed a message at the top of the form. This message shows the status of the file upload, and it'll be set in a session variable by the upload.php script. In the next section, we'll see how to handle the uploaded file on the server side. Create the Upload Logic In the previous section, we created the HTML form which is displayed on the client side and allows you to upload a file from your computer. In this section, we'll see the server-side counterpart which allows you to handle the uploaded file. Pull in the code from the upload.php file on GitHub. We'll go through the important parts of that file. In the upload.php file, we've checked whether it's a valid POST request in the first place. if (isset($_POST['uploadBtn']) && $_POST['uploadBtn'] == 'Upload') { ... } In PHP, when a file is uploaded, the $_FILES superglobal variable is populated with all the information about the uploaded file. It's initialized as an array and may contain the following information for successful file upload. tmp_name: The temporary path where the file is uploaded is stored in this variable. name: The actual name of the file is stored in this variable. size: Indicates the size of the uploaded file in bytes. type: Contains the mime type of the uploaded file. error: If there's an error during file upload, this variable is populated with the appropriate error message. In the case of successful file upload, it contains 0, which you can compare by using the UPLOAD_ERR_OK constant. After validating the POST request, we check that the file upload was successful. if (isset($_FILES['uploadedFile']) && $_FILES['uploadedFile']['error'] === UPLOAD_ERR_OK) { ... } You can see that the $_FILES variable is a multi-dimensional array, the first element is the name of the file field, and the second element has the information about the uploaded file, as we've just discussed above. If the file upload is successful, we initialize a few variables with information about the uploaded file. // get details of the uploaded file $fileTmpPath = $_FILES['uploadedFile']['tmp_name']; $fileName = $_FILES['uploadedFile']['name']; $fileSize = $_FILES['uploadedFile']['size']; $fileType = $_FILES['uploadedFile']['type']; $fileNameCmps = explode(".", $fileName); $fileExtension = strtolower(end($fileNameCmps)); In the above snippet, we've also figured out the extension of the uploaded file and stored it in the $fileExtension variable. As the uploaded file may contain spaces and other special characters, it's better to sanitize the filename, and that's exactly we've done in the following snippet. $newFileName = md5(time() . $fileName) . '.' . $fileExtension; It's important that you restrict the type of file which can be uploaded to certain extensions and don't allow everything using the upload form. We've done that by checking the extension of the uploaded file with a set of extensions that we want to allow for uploading. $allowedfileExtensions = array('jpg', 'gif', 'png', 'zip', 'txt', 'xls', 'doc'); if (in_array($fileExtension, $allowedfileExtensions)) { ... } Finally, we use the move_uploaded_file function to move the uploaded file to the specific location of our choice. // directory in which the uploaded file will be moved $uploadFileDir = './uploaded_files/'; $dest_path = $uploadFileDir . $newFileName; if(move_uploaded_file($fileTmpPath, $dest_path)) { $message ='File is successfully uploaded.'; } else { $message = 'There was some error moving the file to upload directory. The first argument is the filename of the uploaded file, and the second argument is the destination path where you want to move the file. Finally, we redirect the user to the index.php file. Also, we set the appropriate message in the session variable, which will be displayed to users after redirection in the index.php file. How It All Works Together Don't forget to create the uploaded_files directory and make it writable by the web-server user. Next, go ahead and run the index.php file, which should display the file upload form which looks like this: Click on the Browse button—that should open a dialog box which allows you to select a file from your computer. Select a file with one of the extensions allowed in our script, and click on the Upload button. That should submit the form, and if everything goes well, you should see the uploaded file in the uploaded_files directory. You could also try uploading other files with extensions that are not allowed, and check if our script prevents such uploads. Resolving Common Errors A lot of things can go wrong during a file upload which might result in errors. You can check the exact error that occurred during the upload using $_FILES['uploadedFile']['error']. Here is the explanation of those errors: File is Too Large UPLOAD_ERR_INI_SIZE and UPLOAD_ERR_FORM_SIZE occur when the size of uploaded file is more than the value specified in php.ini or the HTML form respectively. You can get rid of this error by increasing the upload size limits or letting the users know about them beforehand. Temporary Folder is Missing UPLOAD_ERR_NO_TMP_DIR is reported when the temporary folder to upload the file is missing. UPLOAD_ERR_NO_FILE is reported when there is no file to upload. Partial Upload or Can't Write to Disk You will get UPLOAD_ERR_PARTIAL if the file could only be uploaded partially and UPLOAD_ERR_CANT_WRITE if the file could not be written to the disk. A PHP Extension Stopped the File Upload Sometimes, you will get the error UPLOAD_ERR_EXTENSION because some extension stopped the file upload. This one will require more investigation by you to figure out which extension caused the problem. Here is the full code from upload.php which will show users a message on the upload page in case of success or failure of the upload.
